 Buns


*     Nut Bread     *


Ingredients:
  • 2 1/2 Cups Flour
  • 3 Teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Egg, Beaten
  • 1 Cup Milk
  • 1 Cup Chopped Nuts


Method:
  • Sift flour, measure and resift with baking powder,
    salt and sugar.

  • Combine well beaten egg and milk and add to dry ingredients,
    stirring quickly until flour is all dampened,
    but not until smooth.

  • Fold in nuts just enough to distribute.

  • Turn into buttered loaf pan ( 8 x 4 x 2 1/2 inches ),
    pushing well into corners.

  • Bake in a slow oven ( 300 ° F ) for 20 minutes;
    then increase heat to moderate ( 375 ° F ) and
    bake 25 to 30 minutes longer or until nicely browned and
    well done.

  • Yield: 1 Loaf.
